Well, it's hard to believe, but it's been 25 years today that I got married to the greatest gal in the world. I'm sure every guy thinks that... OK... maybe not every guy, but a lot do. I'm certain I'm the one that's right.

This morning they once again updated Google Chrome dev to 6.0.472.25 with the release notes just saying "UI Updates and Security fixes." It's all fine with me, as it's easy enough to update, but you'd think they'd take even 15 seconds to enumerate a few of the UI updates, or even list one or two security fixes. But such is not the case.
The relentless advance of Google Chrome has this morning deposited 6.0.472.22 on my little digital doorstep. The release notes are pretty sparse:

So maybe they have the Flash problem fixed in this build? Might be interesting to try it - just to see. In any case, it's relentless, but it's nice to see the progress. It's really quite impressive that it's overtaken Firefox so quickly.
I got another tweet from the Panic guys that they had updated Coda Notes 1.1 - and interestingly enough, the Safari Preferences panel handles all the updates for the extensions. It was a very pleasant surprise.
This afternoon I got a tweet that the great guys at Panic had released Unison 2.1 with a nice assortment of fixes - one of which was the little visual bug I noticed regarding the listing of the unread count at the bottom of the window. It's a nice app, and I wish I could spend more time reading the news, but it's nice to know that it's there when I have the time.
This morning I saw that Acorn 2.3.2 was out with an impressive list of bug fixes and enhancements. This app has become the only real image editor I use, partly because my needs are pretty simple, and partly because this app is written for people that don't use Photoshop daily. It's easy to use, and that's the point. Excellent app.
This morning I saw that WordPress 3.0.1 was released, and SimpleScripts at HostMonster was telling me that it was time to upgrade. The upgrade took all of 5 min for all my journals, and when I was done, I was once again, safe for the time being. WordPress gets hacked a lot, and I try to stay up to date with it just because of that fact.
One of the interesting demos at WWDC 2010 was in the Safari Extensions talk where Cabel of Panic fame showed something they hacked up called Coda Notes. It's a way to annotate a web page in Safari and then email it to your support staff, etc., and they can see all your annotations. This is super helpful for the web developer, and while I'm not sure I'll use it a lot, I certainly want to keep a handle on it. It looks just too amazingly powerful.

This morning I saw that Safari 5.0.1 is out on Software Updates and even though it's got just a few little security patches, it's nice to stay clear of the bad people out there bent on doing harm.
This morning I noticed that BBEdit 9.5.1 was released and while it didn't fix the one problem I had with it, it did seem to fix a lot of bugs other people had with it.
My problem is that when you open a C++ header file, you can, with a click of a widget on the window, open up the corresponding implementation file. Previously, this allowed you to open it up in the same window, but now it seems to respect the global defaults of opening it up in a new window. In general, I want new files in new windows, but when it's the header/implementation file pair, it's a different story.
It'd be easy to add, I'm sure, but I'm guessing they aren't going to change it back. I've sent them an email once, I'll send it to them again this morning.
UPDATE: I sent along the description of the issue. We'll see if they respond. I'd really like to have that feature back.
[7/29] UPDATE: they don't have this, but they do have something that's almost as good: If you set the default to "Open in Front Window" you can get the file opening up where you need it. Problem is everything will be opening there. The way around that is the View menu: "Move to New Window". I put in the keyboard shortcut command-option-O. Now if there's a file you want "split out", it's a single keystroke. Not bad. Not what I wanted, but it's not bad.
