Acorn 3.0.1 is Out

This afternoon I saw that Acorn 3.0.1 was out with quite a nice list of fixes and new features. It's pretty amazing, but I guess when you're on a roll, the ideas are there from all the suggestions, and you have a solid codebase to work from, so things should be a little easier. Still, it's nice to see the improvement.

Twitterrific for Mac 4.1 is Out

Twitterrific.jpg

This morning I saw a tweet that Twitterrific for Mac 4.1 was out, and hoped that they had done something to make the graphics switching problem I was having a thing of the past. Alas, no. But they did fix quite a few other things, and that's nice - for the day I'll be able to actually use it.

I like the new font rendering as I think it'll allow me to go back to the 'dark' color scheme and still read things. It's just a shame that I can't use it with my MacBook Pro yet.

Google Chrome dev 12.0.742.16 is Out – More of the Same

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

This morning the Google Chrome team released 12.0.742.16 with what it calls "UI and performance issues" - which appears to be the theme in recent weeks. It does appear that they are taking the time now to really clean things up and not focus on new features as much as clean up the codebase and polish the app as much as possible. Good enough. Sounds like a plan.

Moving to Adium 1.4.2b1

Adium.jpg

I haven't had a lot of issues with Adium, but when they start another beta cycle, it's something I want to be a part of. They usually have significant features or fixes in the betas - so it's something to be a part of. So this morning when I read in chat that they were starting another with fixes for the MSN buddy list maintenance, I downloaded 1.4.2b1.

The release notes are already impressive. I did have one thing I needed to deal with - the security setting on AOL was causing me grief, but it was an easy fix.

Google Chrome dev 12.0.742.12 is Out

Friday, April 29th, 2011

Well, the Google Chrome guys are still putting the UI polish on 12.x, as they just released 12.0.742.12 with the release notes saying it's just UI issues and a few sync issues. It really appears that they are going for a stabilized release of 12.x for beta as I've read that they believe 11.x is headed for release. Time marches on...

Updated to WordPress 3.1.2 at HostMonster

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

This morning I noticed that there was an update to WordPress to 3.1.2, and so I took the few minutes to update all my installs at HostMonster. It's a single security issue that would never effect my sites as I don't allow for contributors, but still, it makes sense to patch any and all security holes just in case.

Google Chrome dev 12.0.742.9 is Out – Release Candidate?

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

Seems the Google Chrome guys are busy - today it's 12.0.742.9 with the release notes calling it a release candidate. Interesting. If they are planning on moving the 12.x branch to 'beta', then they'll soon be bumping the 'dev' channel to 13.x - which is an interesting number to say the least. I wonder if anyone is superstitious? In any case, they are trying to polish up this version for the release, and that's always good news as it means a better experience for everyone.

Message to Self: Reality Check – Is it Me, or Them?

Monday, April 25th, 2011

This morning I'm really having a hard time with a lot of things. Questioning a lot about who I am, how I approach things, how I react to things and people... and it's not at all fun. Not in the least. I'm wondering if my passion about things is really nothing more than my little rationalization for my actions. Does anyone really care?

Which reminds me of the great line in 1776 when Abigail is talking to John Addams and says:

Have you forgotten what you used to say to me, I haven't. Commitment, Abby, commitment. There are only two creatures of value on the face of this earth - those with a commitment and those who require the commitment of others. Do you remember John?

When I think of that I realize he's right, and so am I. OK... maybe neither of us are right, but I'd rather be wrong - like that, than sit around thinking there's nothing that can be done, or nothing that matters. Life matters, if only to me.

I don't expect a lot of people to agree with me, but then again, as Cher said, This life isn't practice for anything.

Google Chrome dev 12.0.742.5 is Out

Monday, April 25th, 2011

This morning I saw that Google Chrome dev 12.0.742.5 is out and the release notes say that this fixes a regression bug with sync and a few other bugs. OK, seems they rushed the last release, and this guy makes up for it. Sounds like a plan.

MarsEdit 3.2.2 is Out

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

I saw a tweet this morning that MarsEdit 3.2.2 is out with a few bugs that, for some, are certainly quite annoying. For me, it's a non-issue because I'm not a Tumblr user. But still, it's nice to see progress.
